Communications Committee

  • Publication and distribution of Hike Ontario magazine and Trail Mail, e-newsletter
  • Media Outreach, Public Service Announcements and Press Releases
  • Creation and maintenance of publicity materials & coordinates participation in public events
  • Coordinates public speaking opportunities
  • Provides promotional articles for publication
  • Promotion of Ontario Hiking Week, Spring Hike Day, International Trails Day and other special events across the province

Fund Raising Committee

  • Development and management of Friends of Hike Ontario donor program
  • Preparation of applications to private and public funding sources, e.g. Trillium Foundation; Recreational Development Fund; private foundations
  • Cultivates relationships with provincial government ministries which provide funding
  • Works with charitable foundation partners for the purpose of fund raising repare reports on funded projects and programs

 

Government Relations & Public Policy Committee

  • Considers and, if necessary, investigates issues, policies and advocacy matters brought to the attention of the committee by the Board or Executive or general membership
  • Identifies trends and issues that impact hikers and speaks or act as Hike Ontario representing Ontario 's hikers
  • Develops and maintains relationships with government departments and ministries and other recreational users groups.
  • Represents the views and concerns of the hiking and walking community with respect to government actions and policies.

 

Risk Management Committee

  • Dedicated to pursuing best practices, sound advice and proactively engaging in and encouraging safe practices and education.
  • Identifies threats to the ongoing operation of hiking trail associations
  • Publication of Hike Ontario , Risk Management Manual
  • Liaison with member clubs on best practices and risk mitigation
  • Hosts workshops and information sessions on risk management issues and liability insurance
