Autumn is the perfect time to get out and explore the wonderful trails of Ontario.

Ontario boasts a diverse range of hiking trails available to use from the novice to expert level.

Ontario’s rich and varied landscape is crisscrossed by over 64,000 kilometres of trails and there is never a better time to get outside and hit the trails than during Ontario Hiking Week!

Ontario Hiking Week is an annual celebration of pedestrian trails that aspires to get people of all ages and walks of life outside and on the trails!

Sponsored by Hike Ontario, this week long celebration demonstrates the many faces of hiking and walking; as proven beneficial activities that contribute to one’s overall health and wellbeing for people of all ages; as recreational activities that are low impact, healthy and affordable and; by providing access to the natural wonders of Ontario, trails play a major role in instilling appreciation and respect of the environment from the people visiting.

Hwy 401 exit 328 to Trafalgar Rd. North to stop-lights at Hwy 7. Turn left on Hwy 7 to County Rd. 43 and the Limehouse sign. Turn left on Country Rd 43 to Limehouse.
Hikers will be rewarded with views of historic limestone kilns, deep crevices and rock fissures; the chance to see cedars growing at impossible angles as they cling to the side of rocks; scaling two ladders through the famous "Hole in the Wall".

Follow Hwy 10 north from Orangeville to Camilla. Turn right at Camilla on 15th Side road to village of Mono Centre. Turn right at Mono Centre and follow signs to 3rd Line EHS, Mono. Go north to Mono Cliffs Park entrance and parking lot.
At Mono Cliffs you'll see crevice caves, an upland limestone plain, and talus slopes.

Hoggs Falls is tucked away a mere two-minute walk from the Lower Valley Road near Flesherton. At Hoggs Falls, the waters of the Boyne River tumble seven metres in a beautiful cascade surrounded by dense forest. Stay after your hike and enjoy refreshments, snacks and giveaways.

Hike One Tobermory - Meet at Cairn and hike the new section of trail to Little Cove. The Cairn is located on the south-east side of Little Tub Harbour (on Bay Street about 300m east of Hwy. 6)
Hike Two Wiarton - Rural Rocks (Rootz) Side Trail - Parking off of Quarry Road, north of Regional Road 13 (Jenny St.).
Starting at the northern terminus cairn of the entire Bruce Trail join us in celebrating the new reroute of the main trail from Tobermory to Little Cove.
For those wishing to experience the Bruce Trail nearer to Wiarton come out and hike the unique trail through the beautiful rocks and woods on the Rural Rootz side trail.

2.5 – 3 hours/ 6.5 km, Slow pace. Loop hike past Mary Lake to the Millar Side Trail and return via the main trail and Pine Farms Side Trail. Hilly wooded terrain.  Well-mannered dogs on leash welcome. Bring drinks and snacks. Apple picking and lunch options after the hike
  Whitby Waterfront Trail.
Meet at Kiwanis Heydenshore Park, Water Street. Take Brock Street south from 401 (exit #410), until it becomes Water Street (1.5km). Follow Water Street approx. 1km. Heydenshore Park is on the right immediately after the water plant.
4 hrs. /Approx. 14km T&B, Mostly paved paths and boardwalk. Moderate pace. Start at Whitby harbour.

Official North Shore Trail Opening

Join the Friends of Island Lake and the Town of Mono as we celebrate the opening of the North Shore Section of the Vicki Barron Lakeside Trail at Island Lake Conservation Area.

Lunch on the trail at 1:00 p.m. Opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Followed by a guided hike.
